This chapter discusses brain-based interventions
in child and adolescent psychiatry. These include electroconvulsive
therapy (ECT) for adolescents, repetitive transcranial magnetic
stimulation, and deep brain stimulation. With the exception of ECT
for adolescents, these brain-based interventions should currently
be considered investigational procedures and not routinely prescribed
for psychiatric disorders within the pediatric age range.
